As a teacher most of us have to deal with kids on a day to day basis. That can be challenging, frustrating and rewarding.
So to those of you that have kids. Do you think being a teacher has made you a better parent? Would you be the same dad/mum if you had never gone into teaching?
Discuss..............
well, i'd never had much experience dealing with children...well, none to be honest!

have now been working, day in and day out, with kids for the last five years...
it has to have helped eh! we'll wait and see tho, no kids as of yet.
"...ever wonder why they kill the weak ones, baby?"
I don't know if being a teacher makes you a better parent, but I believe being a parent makes you a better teacher.
I know some teachers who seem to be terrible parents and others who seem wonderful...
Until I had kids, i was never interested in other people's. In fact even after having kids I have never been one to coo over someone's new baby...
Some secondary teachers who get on well with teenagers can't bare babies and infants...

This is not always true. I know excellent teachers who never had children and that is one of the reasons they are such good teachers - especially for older kids...Originally Posted by Jellybean

A good parent is just that, it doesnt matter at all if you are a truck driver or a dentist, its the quality time that counts.

My parents were as good as parents get and they were teachers. Psychology studies helped my parenting a lot. I'd say good parents don't always make good teachers, but good teachers will make good parents - all variables being equal.
