Does any body know where i can find decent child care. My child is about 1 1/2 and i face the prospect of caring for him alone. I would prefer some kind of nanny who could look after him during the long hours while i am at work but do not no how to go about finding one and don't really have anyone to help with this task.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I've got a maid/babysitter that I got through a friend of a friend kind of thing. It's cheaper that way, if not there are agencies that supply nannies (not sure how trained they are etc.) but you're going to be paying a bit more. If you want an agency phone number let me know and I'll get it (them).
Riddle me this brother can you handle it

I'm sure that you can get a live in nanny/maid for between 3 - 5k per month.
I pay 4k for a live in maid/babysitter. Cleans and takes care of the kid during the day, and the kid often stays with her at night. I've had Thai maids not half as good as her (she's a legit Burmese worker, we got her legal during the recent amnesty!). If you go through an agency expect to pay nearer 6k or possibly more! Although it may vary from location to lcoation (where are you?).
I'm in the Pinklao area and i don't really have the space for a nanny to live in.

Sorry I can't help you Wizard. Ken sounds like he knows what he's on about though. Try metro classifieds or maybe the embassies have information on this sort of thing.
... if you have some spare time, which may well not have with a young one running around, you might find something in here. The burmese seem to be the pick of the bunch.

Good luck.
KK thought he knew what he was talking about, but after speaking with the chap that used the agency I was told that he thought it was a rip off. He had to pay an initial like signing on fee, and then 8K a month plus she wanted a grand for food. And she only worked in the day time!
Burmese are good IMO and damn hard workers! But make sure they're legal, or that you can still sponsor them to stay here legally!
Just find a Thai nursery, start asking around and it wont take long to find one. In Sadao, I took my son to one, for 2400 baht a month they watched my son 7 days a week from 730 am to 530pm. It included meals. You shouldnt pay that much more in Bangkok.
Hey Snaf, you suck.
Hey Snaff,
I think you may be popping too many of those 'mean and insensitive guy' pills lately.
