Okay, as if im not tired enoughwe have run into a problem on the birth certificate. When filling out the paper work at the hospital there was a question about where are we taking the baby to live. We wrote down the address of the apartment that ive lived at for some time. When they handed out our thai birth cert, they are asking the owner of the building to sign on it and submit copies of documents pertaining to the ownership of the building and so forth.
He flat out is refusing to do so and was angry we even asked. It has been three weeks since the birth of my child and apparently if we dont take all this paperwork to the government office in chatuchak in the next couple of days we are in for a hefty fine.
Has anyone ran into this problem or have an idea of what to do?
My wife's family lives far away. My wife is calling a family friend in bangkok to see if we can use their info for this. That would still mean gettin a new birth cert...
AHHHHHHHHH...he just pooped again![]()
A bribe may be in order? Or for his services, is a better way to put it.
Jimmy Hill is a poof!

But why is he pissed off.......very strange.
He maybe has recieved the building by shady means and paerwork there isn't?
Maybe just maybe its a translation problem. I have never heard of an apartment house owner having to sign off. What I think you need is proof of where you live. Do you get a rent reciept or anything like that? Or show your rental agreement. If he does not do this for you. Go to the police and ask them to help, bring the kid. You may have to slip 500 under the table to get this done.
I really believe this to be the case.
You can pm me as well SS

Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
w enever had any problems like this and we had our child far away from where my wife is from. i think all my wife had to show em was her house reg, or id card. we did this in a totally differnet province to where my wifes house reg is from and id card.
^ I think that's the ticket. Just show them the house registration of your wife - whatever province it may be in. That's all they really need - to associate your "Thai" baby with a proper Thai household.
Makes sense to me just use the mother in laws address. My wife made my buy her a house before we married. Think of it like this proof of residence. It has no bearing at all on your kids name or nationality. Hell I was born in Dhahran Saudi Arabia.
But get the paper filed because after a certain date, your kid is given a name. Kwan for a boy.
Yeah...we are headed to the gov office in the morning. Along with the birth cert we are taking the tam bien, ID cards, passports, and of course the baby.
Wish us luck. I'll let y'all know.
chock dee
So whats the kids name?
Joey Boy Jr.
Does senior have a TV show, and used to be on Friends?Good luck mate.
Okay, just walking in the door. First we went to the district office of Chatuchak. Taxi must not have known the way cuz it took us 110 baht. I lugged the baby and stroller up about 20 stairs and we waited for a while and then they told us if you dont have a tambeiban here in the district of chatuchak you must go to the district where you have one.
My wife calmly explained the situation and tried to see if we could grease em. They wouldnt execpt. My wife is three weeks post major fuckin operation and the thai law actually expects us to jump through all these hoops with our three week old. I dont even want to have him riding around in any car let alone a psycho bangkok taxi. They also told us we have to handle this all today or face a big fine.
Question raised by my wife, "what do people do who live in apartments in bangkok?" "They find someone who will let them add your kid to their tambeiban." The thai gov would rather have people lie about this than except a tambieban from yasothondont you guys have fuckin computers?!
We call up her second cousin and she agrees. She has a translation / visa / tourist / everything service on sukumvit sio 4. We take a 120 baht taxi ride there and she provides us with the needed help. She comes with us to get all this done a few hours later it is handled. She is even translating the birth cert for me tonight and her delivery boy will drop it off later.
Now for the funniest part of the day. My family and i are standing on sukumvit trying to get a taxi, the first one stops, i say "wat samien", he says "2000 baht", I say "fuck off" he wants to get out and fight. We went through the next 5 taxis, we didnt even see a meter until the sixth! He started at 300 baht and wifey got him down to 150. Ive been in thailand for over a year and have actually never had a taxi use anything but a meter despite all the horror stories.
Anyways, i guess the moral of the story, dont have kids!Just kidding...
Sounds like a rat shit day, that ended well.
