I realise that too much TV is not a good thing, but here I would argue that it's doing my daughter more good than harm. She maybe watches an hour or so a day, but only stuff that we provide on the computer, or on DVD...
Teletubbies - Yup, it's very good for babies, though Malina at 2 1/2 is just not into it anymore. It's also a bit babyish for those kids starting to speak at a more advanced level. Or maybe she overdosed on in between 12-18 months old...maybe I did too...
Dora The Explorer - Bi-lingual English/Spanish cartoon with lots of interaction for pre-schoolers. Malina's current obsession....and she can now count to 10 in Spanish, and backwards from 10 in English thanks to it. ¡Vamonos!
Boogie Beebies - Low budget CBeebies dance show with boyish Pete Hillier leading a troupe of beaming stage school kiddies in simple dances to some of the most genius catchy songs ever....warning you'll be humming these at work all day. Used to be this fit black girl called Nat, but she got the push after season 1. Can you do the Kangeroo?
Numberjacks - Another CBeebies show. 3D animated numbers go out into the world to stop math related abnormalities being caused by baddies such as the Shape Japer, or the Numbertaker, or Spooky Spoon. This one is responsioble for Malina recognising written numbers. Number fridge magnets are now known as the Numberjacks game.

I suppose I could give you the same answer my parents told me when I wanted to watch tv: "Read a book! Or go outside and play!" Personally, I try to keep my son away from tv. I just don't trust it. Sorry, Louis.

My 1 and half year old daughter and I enjoy watching Youtube videos together. I grew up around Sesame Street and there are tons and tons of clips from it and the Electric Company and Barney, etc. I'll try to look up all those other programs y'all mentioned, too; i'm sure they're out there on youtube.
I've been told In the Night Garden is especially good too...I\'ve just found a torrent source and will download them.
BTW Doug, my daughters just at home with a book as she is in front of the TV...big fan of Beatrix Potter right now...don't forget that my wife's specialisation is lecturing in hildrens Literature...we have a huge library of kids books. Going outside to play is just not an option on our soi...we don't have a garden either.
My son watched dora and gummi bears.

The Wiggles are worth every cent they earn. My daughter just loves them .....so much that if she sees a wiggles product in a shop she will try to launch her self out of the trolley to get it![]()
It's not all rosey tho as I keep having dreams with wiggles songs in them
What colour wiggles do you like ?
Is this an Aussie thing?
The wiggles are australias richest entertainers but in the last few years they have cracked the US market and are going gang busters over there as well.
refuse, I agree with you about singing there songs...agggghhhhh! I woke up this morning singing 'I'd like to have another cup another cup another cup another cup another cup of rosies tea!'
I don't like the wiggles, just captain feathersword!

The Wiggles are good enough. I'm with AO, Disney Channel is the best you can get for your kids. When we were in Thailand, our youngest went to a baby sitter for more than a year. They added Disney Channel to their UBC Lineup to keep him happy.
Don't forget Movies and DVDs for your kids. My sons currently are enamaored by Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke, the A-Team and the Dukes of Hazzard. I swear my kids have a touch of southern drawl.
My little one thoroughly enjoys man vs wild and also all the walking with dinosaurs stuff!
my kids love that show as well.Originally Posted by kenkannif
