My wife is ready to pop any day now and I have been left with the hugh task of finding him a name. I am asking all the wise men of ajarn.com to help me find a name for the future prime minister of Thailand.
Being Irish i would prefer something Irish/celtic.
Thanks. A pint for the best suggestion.

beat irish cartoon ever
The best name in the Irish name book would probably be Seamus, but if you don't want such a savvy name, how about Liam, Connor, Eamon (2 Ns is doable[that is probably the best name because Thais could say and read it easily]), Corey, Sean, or Franny (knew a lot of drunk Mics with that name)... just my inbread seppo input![]()

Congrats
We had to go through this process late last year, so I'm familiar with the headache.
Now you want something Celtic and I assume something that won't be either mangled by Thais or have an unfortunate meaning in Thai (you don't want the Thai version of Tittiporn or Nutsak).
Seamus is out since most Thais will pronounce it Shaymut and give the kid a complex same goes with Eamon (AiMon) Corey (Coley) and Franny (Flanny).
My suggestion is take a list of names you like and run it past the motorcycle guys at the end of the soi. If they don't mangle it or start giggling then you might be on a winner.
Luckily for me The wife chose a girl's name and I chose the boy's. We had a girl and we were spared my stupid suggestion.
Robert, Alastair (few different spellings for this one), Cameron, Hamish, Angus, Stuart, Boyd, Callum, Eoin; all braw Scots names.

I named my son Ethan, problem is Thais can't say th so he's been given the nickname Moto, which is short for Motorola (not my idea)
Abdul or Jesus or Moses or Ceasar. Mujtaba? Shazab?
If you prefer Irish, I can only think of Paddy, Murphy, Dougal, Sean, Brandan, Garvan or any one of these.
My favpurite is Brandan.
Congratulations.
A couple of mates were named Seon and Saul. I don't know if these would pass the Thai-cification test though...
My suggestion would be to name your kid something normal and/or average. Trust me, you have less chance of putting your kid through a living hell. I mean, Nolan? No offense, but that is probably one of the dorkiest/lamest names I have ever heard. Please, don't.
Some suggestions: Jon, Matt, Rob, Bill.
It doesn't have to be that generic, but basically the more generic the better.
Don't want your kid to hate you? Don't play games with their name. Don't go with something you "like" or think is clever.
Don't name them something that their peers will destroy them on. Just go with something you know for sure that they can live with.
When I think of the name Nolan I think of two things: 1. A bald old man swilling beer in a dirty pub 2. A former hick baseball player from Texas.
Not good.
And as for Cormac, well, if you put a Mc in front of it you've basically got a last name (one that sounds quite like mine in fact).
Turn the car around buddy. You're driving on the tracks!!![]()

Used to like that name till the twat from O-arse-is put me off!
I would say Rury (Ruraidh) but the r's would get turned into l's just as sure as Bangkok's rather a warm place!
My boy's called Nathan - similar prob, it become Nat-an. But as Robi has pointed out, this is pleasingly similar to Satan!
No Biggy - Thais use the nicknames anyway don't they so he'll be Nong Nat, or Ouan / Wun (fatboy) or something!
Yeah but if he gets picked on, at least he'll learn hw to fight (see "a boy named Sue")
You a parent? Not thst easy to find a name you like that'll work ok in 2 very different cultures
PS Congrats OP fella!
Having a kid's proper bo!
