As I understand it, mothers are entitled to three months of maternity pay which is 50% full salary. Can anyone confirm or correct this? Does the mother have an obligation to return to her employer once the maternity leave has elapsed?
Also, does the MoL dictate conditions for paternity leave? I've got plenty of paid holiday leave but don't wish to use it unless I must. It would be nice to know I'm entitled to any amount of time off even if it's a week or two. I work for a British company so I'm hoping the owners will just let me have some time off but I've not yet asked.
Are there any other aspects of this issue parents ought to know about? Does the MoL provide for any other benefits?
If your employer does provide paternity leave it'll be two or three days. Two weeks is unheard of, even in the UK.
