I join with my wonderful wife in announcing the birth of our first child. We have yet to decide a formal Thai name but her nickname/middle names will be Bella Rae. Transliterations aren't perfect, but so far we're thinking perhaps Isara (independence) or Boonyaa (one who has merit).
Our daughter is everything a parent could ask for and thus far she's quiet as a mouse--although something tells me that won't last long.
Despite suffering from contractions since 3am this morning, when it came time to leave for the hospital today at 7am, she told me to put a pot of coffee on first. Her exact words were, "Don't worry Eric; contractions are only ten minutes apart. I hurt for a minute but can rest for nine. You need your coffee. It will be a long day." I love that woman.
Here's to parenthood; may it end as beautifully as it starts.
