In Korea i had my kindergarten kids convinced that I had a pet kangaroo called Jamie that lived in my apartment and rode to the shops to get shopping in its pouch.
In Thailand I told the kids that the hearts and lungs they were dissecting belonged to people who had died in motor cycles crashes at the weekend.

lies are pragmatic here, whether to children or not, a lie is a tool, an instrument to be used, people don't seem to be able to get that into their heads coming from the West

I had a biology teacher once that said he's figured out how to metabolize life from proteins (which would be something like the holy grail of biology) and that he learned it from this particular movie that he wanted us to watch...
We still fast forwarded through as much of it as we could when he left the room, but it almost worked.
