Not sure if this will affect many people here, but Sukhumvit road will have some lanes closed off for the BTS extenstion. From Suk 77 to 101 one of three lanes will be closed from 22:00 to 5:00 until October, when it becomes a permanent closure, and then it will expand to two lanes in January.
From March next year, the entire section of road from Onnut to Soi Bearing will have two lanes closed.
Srinakarin is being touted as the alternative, but what with the overpasses only due for completion next year April, I'm sure both Suk and Srinakarin will be in a permanent state of gridlock..
The BTS construction is due for completion in Feb 2009.

You had better. I went through this, at the same time Sukumvit was torn up, Silom, and all of Phrayathai, and Phonyonthin, It was chaos. Then when you finally got out of that, you had to face Wipawidee Rangsit going north. It too, the only highway north was chockablock. That was to build the upper tollway. But the others were to build the skytrain we all now enjoy.
