Thread title says it all. I am looking for something very very specific and haven't been able to find it. I need a timing device that I can set to turn out my coffee paraphenalia in the morning before I wake up. Any thoughts?

Go out your front door, turn right and walk four blocks. On your left is a hardware store, next to the 7/11.
Home remedies:
1. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK.
2. IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
3. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER.
try any 'mom and pop' chinese electrical/hardware shop...sure they can rustle you something up even if they don't have the actual thing.

Oh yeah, good idea. Leave it to me to miss the most obvious place. I was going in the other direction, checking the high end dept. stores.Originally Posted by jonny danger

yeah, an obvious first thought. but, as i'm sure you know, the guy's working there don't know a lightbulb from a piece of cable...go see old mr. hong and like i say, if he ain't got one, he can make one no problem. for about a quarter of the price a department store too!Originally Posted by baah gaofair

Ended up getting a mechanical timer at Home Pro at the Ploen Chit BTS station. I was going to try a hardware store but one my Thai coworkers said the average little hardware store might not have this kind of thing, and I didn't have time to go searching around, so he said just go to Home Pro.
I started using it already... saved me at least 10 minutes this morning!
You must have an older model, most come with a timer!! But hell my gold meleta filter is 15 years old now, so I should just shut up.

Yeah drip machines do, at least nicer ones. I'm playing in an entirely different leauge though, working with an espresso machineOriginally Posted by aging one

The machine takes 30 minutes or more to get fully up to temperature, so having the timer turn it on a bit before I wake up allows me to start my cappucino or latte production without having to wait. It's only a few minutes difference but I'll take all I can get on mornings when I get up at 5:45am for Thai class after teaching until 9pm and getting home at 11pm or later.
Sounds like you have the real deal. Mine is just dark french drip. Cheers bro.

Yeah I am a big coffee geek, although it is a pretty new hobby for me and so I'm not much of a barista yet. I finally have a proper espresso machine and grinder though so maybe I'll get there someday. I had a friend visit from the US for New Years and made him bring me them... took an entire large suitcase and put him within 1kg of the international flight weight limit haha.
You could have probably bought a Somchai to do it for you for cheaper mate![]()
