Today my school has a snow day. I teach in New York. This is something that can never be enjoyed by any of you ajarns in Thailand.![]()
There is something absolutely wonderful about being called up in the morning and being told that school is cancelled for the day and to go back to sleep. I'll miss these when/if I start teaching in Thailand.
We don't have snow days but we have a million class cancellations due to spurious activities and public holidays though, and they happen just as randomly as the school being snowed in![]()

Some Thai educators will use ANY excuse to get out of teaching. And you will find out about the cancellation approx. 7 seconds before you are due to teach

I've got snow today as well in Durham, England. Unfortunately mine is a boarding school so the kids can't use the excuse that they can't get to lessons or tutorials. S'now fun!
yah, we have tons of the white junk here in vermont, gets damn depressing after 3 straight months, only interspersed by brief thaws that make the ground a shoe stealing quicksand like substance. you can keep your snow days, give me blistering heat!
I'd love a snow day! In Texas we didn't get many--mostly ice days, and then only a couple a year. My favorite kind of class cancellation is when I show up for class and there are no students.
I'm so jealous of you guys!
Poor old me is sitting in an air-conditioned office overlooking a plaza where in about an hour and a half, a few hundred little cuties are going to spill out on their way to lunch in their tight, tailored work suits.
Fat birds in Skiing jackets seems so much more appealing. At least I've got Wednesday off due to some inane public holiday, so I'll be spending the day at home perusing www.fatfarangwomenintightleggings.com - I can't wait!
I'll take the heat, thank you.Originally Posted by Tomm

Snow days. In bangkok we have flood days. Ah. No school but no going out. Watching movies all day and ordering out. Not as nice as snow since there is raw sewage floating outside your door but still no school.
