Re: Air Asia Rant
This link will add some good irony to this story. Welcome to AirAsia.com...now everyone can fly...
Zero Thb to Phuket. I'll pass. Notice their domestic fuel surcharge is less than the competition. There will always be whiners.

Re: Air Asia Rant
Here is my Air Asia story. The low cost terminal at KL is nothing to write home about, but the immigration was easy. The plane was scheduled to go at 6:45 we left at 6:43. The plane was to land in BKK at 7:50 it landed at 7:35. So that part was great.
Why didnt anybody point out that they dont serve beer!!!! I could not believe it. Great trip though and I cant complain about Air Asia. Perhaps it was luck, but I would take them again.

Re: Air Asia Rant
What you pay for is what you get. I've done the 10baht flights down to Krabi and back from Phuket, no probs. (OK, after tax and fuel surcharge it's 750B but still a damn good deal) The Phnom Penh deal is also a bargain time saver for any destination in Cambodia. Delays? Well, again to be expected. Best not to use if your a businessman I guess. Have to admit I like the leather seats and don't really need to buy any onboard refreshments on a 1 hour flight so there you go.

Re: Air Asia Rant
^I'm surprised that they text you about a delay. I have never heard of that happening, and usually I just find out when I'm waiting to get on my flight.

Re: Air Asia Rant
I've probably flown Air Asia 20-25 times over the last three years, and can count the considerable delays (approx. 30 min -1 hour), on one hand.
Just lucky I guess.
BTW, I also just got back from KL and I agree that the immigration check there is a breeze.

Just because you're in Business Class, paying through the nose, does not mean you will be on time. Ever hear of rain and lightning?

Re: Air Asia Rant
As someone who has used Air Asia a lot I will say this,It has saved me a lot of money.I went to Shenzen Last month and it cost me 50 quid return. Not bad from Bangkok;Yes there was a 1 hour delay coming back,But I don't expect great sevice for that price. In Blighty I pay 50 quid for my Train ticket a week, and I still get a lot of delays going to London. So for the distance.BKK-SHZ return is good value, so Thank you Air Asia and all the Budget airlines for saving me a wad.To get on a bus in now in London for a short hop is 2 quid for 1 or 20 stops, now that's ripping people off.

I read that the cheap airlines found that by selling beer or having no beer at all, usage of the toilets decreased dramatically and they were able to reconfigure the planes with more seats and less toilets

Re: Air Asia Rant
They had 3 toilets for 150 people. Two aft and one in the front.

Re: Air Asia Rant
I've flown airasia probably 30 times in the past few years. No significant delays - the only worry that I have is crashing into the ocean. I've noticed little cracks on the side near the windows, and turbulence always seems like it's much worse than on other airlines.

I've noticed that too....and the amount of noise is unsettling.
Something else that doesn't do much for my state of mind at thirty thousand feet....the panicked look on the faces of the AirAsia flight attendants during turbulence. I figure they probably know how much the company is cutting corners....and what kind of knuckleheads work in the maintenance department.
