^^^Err, I try not to stay out too late, so I try to hit the slosh as early as possible. My bloke doesn't care either, he sees as well in the dark (gotta navigate into some dark and bushy places sometimes mate) as he sees in daylight.
I guess cluezo's maybe referring to some motorcy-taxi riders. Thye're not shy about pulling out their wands. Again, I don't blame them, it's not like they have dunnies at their motorcy-taxi ranks.

Actually, AO, you have reminded me that I have indeed seen this before. But it was on a school trip up in Mae Hong Son, and everyone got off the coach and went for a piss by the side of a mountainous, otherwise deserted, road. But that's exactly what happens back home, too, so I don't really see why this is an issue for farangs in Thailand.

I've been given a dirty look by my wife enough times to know that spitting is not acceptable behaviour in Thai culture. Maybe they're mad for the maak around the OP's area. Still it reminds me of an observation that some guy made that part of the annoyance with Chinese spitting is that there is great amount of noisy hawking, gurgling and hacking but they usually just let it dribble silently out. Unlike a Western hock which is accompanied by a satisfying ptang!! usually at a target to finish off.

It just came down to each individual manner, lack of any consideration for others. I believe in Singapore, spitting in public is prohibited.

ive never seen thai people spitting. I saw some little prick doing it here yesterday though and i called him a fucking disgusting prick.
If i spat or did or said anything impolite I would be told by the missus " That is not polite" and i think spitting would spell my doom.I sometimes do it when running but i always do it into a bush or some trees. Peeing as well i sometimes do that when running, the other people in the gym havent compained.
