Motorbike in MY name !! - Page 2 - Ajarn Forum

I have been trying to get my motorbike from my ex's name to mine for months now. This weekend I will go to see her to finally finalize the deal. 10,000 baht for my own bike will do it. I have all the paper work ready for her to sign.

So here is what I know. I picked up the transfer form from Thai motor vehicles here in Angthong. I'll try to include a picture here of the front and back side as well as a translation of the front of the form. You do not need to fill out the back. It is for offical use only.

Have the seller fill out the form. You need the address that is on their house registration papers. (which should be the same as the one in the green book). Fill in your name and address as well. Then fill in the vehicle information. (frame and motor number)

You will need to list the documents that you will be including. A copy of their house registration papers (signed) A copy of their ID card (signed) and the original green book. Make sure they sign these copies or they will not accept them.

Both of you need to sign the form along with two witnesses. Better if you have one and they have one.

Take all this to the motor vehicles department and apply for a transfer of title. I do not know how long it will take but you should be good to go. Of course if the selling party will go to motor vehicles with you it would be even easier.

I have good news today. I finally got my ex to sign the transfer papers so now I can get my name on the green book and have sole ownership. Granted I had to pay her 10,000 baht for my own bike but it was worth it not to have any more hassles over it. Now I just have to file the papers, re-insure it, and wait to get the new book and I think a new plate. Yahooooooooo!!!!!!

I went to the DOT this morning.

They will not let the guy sell the bike until the police fine (200 baht) for not wearing a helmet a year ago is settled.

My gf established that once that matter is cleared up, it's a definite go. She checked with the staff there so it is doable.

I will give a detailed report in a few days when the deal is sealed.

Haha just when I was thinking all was right in the world, up jumps the devil. I was told at motor vehicles today that I have to turn in the power of attorney form first in order to transfer authority from Rayong (where I purchased the bike) to Angthong (where I now live). That should take 3-7 days. (or so) Then I can turn the rest of the paperwork in.

1. Title transfer form
2. signed copy of sellers ID card
3. signed copy of sellers house registration papers
4. original copy of green book
5. signed copy of my passport
6. statement from my school stating my house address

At least I hope this will be all they need. One thing I have learned here in Thailand is to never be in a hurry to get things done. Never seems to happen without some sort of hitch. I'm still waiting for my internet from TOT but thats a story for another thread.

On the other hand it was rather easy to get UBC cable. Only took 2 days.

A letter from Immigration would be better in my opinion as your immigration status is much more longterm than your employment status, immigration always did the job for me and it was a free service too (although two photos were required).

But if he is on a Non-Imm B extended for the purposes of his job then surely his immigration status will be exactly the same as his employment status (lengthwise)?

Well, once you have left the position for which you were granted an extension to your visa, technically your visa is no longer valid and you need to make a trip to immi, or leave the country and re-enter....that's what I meant(?)

If the school bothered to sort out the Teachers Licence and Work Permit which is by no means guaranteed. I see your point though Sage and in an ideal world both would be the same.

Of course, I have neither a motorbike (any more) or an extension to a non-imm B so it's all Greek to me.

^ Yeah Visa would only really be longer if it was a Non-imm O with WP on mate but extended through money and marriage!!! Elsewise nowt really in it.

Lx3....if WP etc. is not guaranteed....(you don't have them) you ain't really got no employment to talk about have you?
