Sorry Johnboy I did not mean to steal your thread I was just posting info that I thought would help.

I have a work permit by the way and an no imm B visa but motor vehicle director said he wanted a letter from my school for my address. Ha I even have a Thai motorcycle license with my address but seems like that is not enough. Oh well I will just jump through the hoops and see where I land. Once this is all done I will probably just sell the bike anyway.

Truly.

I shall meet the guy who sold me the bike at DOT today, and the sale has been complicated due to the fact that my guy is not the previous owner !

He appears honest because good friends recommended him, so I think it will turn out fine, but my heart is in my mouth until everything is concluded.

Also the bike was previously in another province, and that causes additional paperwork apparently.

I'll try to follow all that goes on and will report again next week.

Sounds like your situation was slightly more complicated than others due to having to clear up things from the past on the bike's title but all in all a happy ending.

Yes it can be done, I don't who started the rumor that you can't put your car / bike in your name here. I know lots of stories where guys put bikes and cars in their tee-rak's name and after a while off she goes with it.

Just jump through all of the hoops at Land transport, and save your stack of paperwork for the next time you have to get something done, you'll likely need it.

^ Without a WP and/or extended Visa....can be hard to put it in your name mate....also bear in mind it (as with many/most things here) can depend on the seller and what they think (apparently 'but it said it was alright on Ajarn' isn't a valid argument to many Thais).

After a final trip to the motor vehicle office I now have green book in hand in my name. YES!!!!!! I had to have them check the vin number but that took all of 1 minute. They only looked at the frame number. Didn't bother to check if the motor number was the same.
Today I took my bike to the Honda shop and purchased insurance in my name and paid for the registration tax for the new year. I don't know why they didn't do it at the motor vehicle office. They gave me a new sticker but it expires on the 28th just like my old one. Oh well just another 100 baht and 400 baht for insurance. Damm some things are just too cheap here in LOS.
Now finally after all the hassle my motorcycle is finally mine, all mine.
