Motorbike in MY name !!
I will buy a Honda Wave 125cc on Thursday and I want it in my name this time.
My ex has the 2 brand new motorbikes I bought here so I want this one for myself !!
I have a WP and a job here, so is it possible ?
It is second hand, and not from a dealer.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
sure just do it. The dealer or the seller should make it easy for you.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
The guy selling it is not a dealer. I just need someone who has done this already to give me the lowdown.
If I get no replies, I'll give it a good go, and report my experience here.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
It can be done. eric c just bought a car from mike s. He had little to no problems registering it and getting it insured in his own name.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
i had to show proof of residence. forget the name of the sheet but your local immigration will have the forms. its filled out by your landlord (the owner, not just some dude) and needs to include a copy of their id. that, along with your passport and wp, should suffice.

Live and learn eh. You aren't the first, and you certainly won't be the last to put an asset into a GF's name then loose it when ye fall out of love/ someone falls in love with someone else.
Why oh why put things in a GF's name. I've never been able to fathom it - nobody shall ever know what the future may hold.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
When I bought my car I thought I'd have to trudge all the way to immi (a 320k round trip) to get my proof of residence. "No problem" said the dealer. My wife just photocopied the house reg, her ID and wrote a signed letter saying I lived there. See what you can do to save yourself some time. After all this is LOS. The rules aren't always the rules.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
It's doable.
When I purchased my secondhand bike it was quite cumbersome. I know that one part of the procedure involves a designated dealer actually finding the serial number on the motor block, then making an impression with paper of the number. Could be lots of running around. Good luck though.
I can't even imagine how difficult legally selling it would be.

Re: Motorbike in MY name !!
I think you need a Thai DL to purchase the motorcycle. I have purchased a mc and a car. Each time the DL was what was needed and with the car a paper of residence from immigration.

Nah, i bought several bikes and a car without one.
in transfering reg to your name, you just need a signed form from the person you are buying the bike from, its a standard form, and a copy of the owners ID card, that paper should be signed as well. its easy, and if you have ahard time with it you can always go to an insurance agent and they will do the whole thing for you at nominal cost. i transfered my car to my brother in-law when i moved back to the USA, the insurance agent did this for us for free, after i purchased insurance from him of course. good luck.
