I need to transport my bicycle from Salaya to Sukhumvit. I know there must be a way - don't some ppl move in thailand who own large pieces of furniture/ i haven't found a way to transport it yet and I really miss it. any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do you mean Salaya about 25 kms from Sukhumvit?
1) Ride it
2) Take the wheels off and put it in a taxi.
3) Rent a pick-up & driver

Yes, I agree with hippo. I transported my mountain bike all over Thailand with these methods.
Just be considerate and make sure the bike is fairly clean. Taxi drivers do not like grease marks on their seats!!!

It seems that our original posterl a) lacks the confidence, or b) is too fond of living, to ride a bicycle on the streets of Bangkok. From Salaya you can send the bicycle by train (accompanied or unaccompanied luggage) to Hualompong. Hualompong taxi drivers being somewhat reluctant to have a shining bicycle on their dirty back-seats, strapping it to the back of a Tuk-Tuk is your best bet. You can then take the bike on the BTS to wherever you wish to go on Sukhumwit.
Some good advice previously, the best method is probably tuk tuk. Those guys will strap it to the back, charge you 200 Baht and bundle you in the back in a heart beat. My best advice would be to ride the thing! Bangkok really isn't that scary to cycle when you get going. I cycle to work and around Bangkok every day, it is a good cycling city (believe it or not....).
If you don't want to ride it, mail it.
