Don't want to narrow it down a little bit more do you? Like I mean which side of the soi? The first hundered meteres or the second hundered? What colour building do you like?

Now I don't know how long soi 71 is but it can't be that hard to have a look around seeing you have already named the soi you want to live on.

It is a very long soi with many apartments so it is a normal question I can look around but if somebody has some advice I can look there first.

actually there are a few nice places at the top end, pattanakarn but the phrase middle of nowhere springs to mind

Most horrible part of Sukhumvit in my opinion so I would go up to Ekamai or down to Onnut area with that budget, e.g. check out the new condo development (Lumpini Center) on Sukhumvit 77 within walking distance of the skytrain. Brand new, units just transferred, will be plenty of people trying to rent out, all have small kitchens as well. Studios are available for 4-5K, then there are bigger 1-2 bed units.

If you insist on Sukhumvit 71, there is a high rise (20 floor approx) building quite near the Sukhumvit end (on the right coming from Sukhumvit), can't quite remember the name, "happy..." or something. Has rooms around your budget (I think) plus pool on roof.

There is VIP Mansion as mentioned plus Winning Tower but they are right down the end near Klong Tan junction. Really miserable area and a very slow commute from the skytrain at peak hours.
