Re: Flooding in the North East.

Seems Nong Khai and Nan are going under. The Mekong is at its highest point in 12 years. Remember its gonna get to Bangkok eventually. I remember in 96 alot of Pratum Thani was underwater. Pakkret was a meter deep.

Your students going uneducated for a week Peelie, and you're happy? I don't believe it. I thought you'd have a 'copter on stand by to have them flown to your house.

I was in Nan last week. The river leading from meuang Nan to Teung Chaang was next to the road and most of the town's people were watching with amazement. I thought for sure I'd have to find an alternate route back but the river had actually gone down two days later. Not sure about now.

As I read in the paper the Mekong River has its highest level since 1966. And Mekong has no connection to the Bangkok, Chao Phraya does.
Cheers Mate!

Re: Flooding in the North East.

I dont think he meant that the Mekong was going to get to bangkok, but the other rivers that feed the Chao Phrya will be effected in some way. glad i built my house on stilts.

Re: Flooding in the North East.

Latest Nongkhai report. Mekong's about a foot away and everyone's excited. Plenty of fishing opportunity and still a few kids swimming. the iconic institution that is Mut Mee's Guesthouse is two foot in Mekong shit. Rain forecast tonight so all the fun of the circus tomorrow. no-ones pancking except the Chinese gold shops. Boats at the ready.
