Should be able to find the controls you need under the menu button. Fine tuning perhaps.

If you can get into the menu, you should have an option that says auto tune. This will go through all the frequencies and should give you all the best settings.

I like that one. These modern tv's a right pain in the butt. Get into the menu as has been stated before.

Fricking true now has all that menu stuff in Thai on my tv.

Thanks for the advice all, but the problem is not with the channel tuning; they are all on the AV channel from a UBC feed.

The problem is the picture. Colors are fine, quality is kool, but there is too much black. Shadows are too dark etc. Can anyone tell me which of the picture control settings in the menu can adjust this?

^ Fuck with the brightness/colour/contrast/tint settings mate....not a lot else you can do.

Yep they do say (they being loads of people) that most HD tellies aren't at their optimum!!!

^ Not always mate....contrast has as much if not more to do with it!!! I used to be all about the brightness...but it's a fine line between that and contrast!!!

Also some of them have the individual colours tweakable (red, green and blue if I'm not mistaken?)...this can have a big impact on it as well.

agreed I should have put contrast as well.

Should mention that it does not matter if its channel tuning or not. You should be in Menu, and fiddling with color, contrast, and brightness.

My old Samsung that died years ago would often be dark. I watch through av as well. But by going to menu and hitting brightness I could lighten up the picture. no?
