If that's the case, I wouldn't be investing anything in Thailand.
For those BMW, yeah, second hand ones are cheap even in Canada, but I know for a fact that if you want to have any repairs done, it will cost you an arm and a leg. Definitelly not a good option if you need a car, but are tight on budget.

Re: Purchasing a Car
In England I always had a BMW, but when I settled here I was advised by a thai who works for a BMW franchise not to buy a BMW because they are suited to the climate,(something to do with the cooling system). I eventually bought a Honda from a showroom (so not second hand). I must confess that the service and hospitality that I have received from Honda has been magnificent!!!
Last month was my sixtieth birthday and Honda sent me a really nice birthday card with really nice sentiments in it. I wouldn't have got that from an English company back home.

Agreed Brian, posted earlier on the same topic. It seems to go for all European cars. They just cant imagine a car that needs the air blasting each and every day of the year.

Re: Purchasing a Car
Obviously the Europeans do not make the necessary modification to suit the climatic conditions.
Would you agree with that Aging One.

Re: Purchasing a Car
Exactly Brian, they have no idea how hot a car can get from sitting 4 hours in the sun at 43 degrees. The high level of fan on a BMW is about a quarter of the high level of a Japanese car.

Re: Purchasing a Car
Good point about European cars, but it's all relative really as I can't stand air-con and never turn it on when driving my Beetle. Whenever I'm in the Jap-crap I close the vent on my side so that I don't get frostbite.

Re: Purchasing a Car
You have gone native leeds. Plus you dont spend 20 minutes at a stop light in the middle of bumper to bumper traffic in the polluted hot cesspool we call the big mango.

Re: Purchasing a Car
That's true enough AO, when I'm in the city I don't drive the car as I prefer to go out on the scooter instead; much less hassle.

Re: Purchasing a Car
I cant deal with the traffic. I park at a Wat near my house, get a bus to the skytrain, and then just get about. Hate driving here in the city. Believe it or not my place is in the boonies of bkk.
