So if I understand correctly, you're using your Thai wife as a benchmark. A Thai woman who works in an office where all communication is in English. And I might add a woman that sounds from your posts as wanting to be someone other than Thai (my opinion).... You might want to expand your base information group just a bit there Bucky! BTW I guess you don't work at a goverment school, almost everything I see here at school is in Thai numbers.

Governments schools - and schools in general - are charged with sustaining Thai culture. I can think of 100s of thai restaurants where I've been in where not a single roman letter is used on the borads/menus etc but all the prices are in arabic numerals. This would suggest they're pretty much accepted as the norm.

Of course Thai numbers will prevail ..because of tradition and of course they will always use our numerals bacause Thai script doesnt enter into calculators made in Tawian real easy...it's not rocket science.

re is spot on with this, of those 100's of restaurants you've been to, do they use a calculator to add up your meal? And as they are adding they are saying in their head, yeezip ha, sam zip, etc.

I have to agree with some of the others, you seem to have a hard -on against anything Thai. Maybe a trip home for a month or 6 would help.

Yes, but what pictorial representations are they seeing in thier head when they see these, I wonder.

I'm not quite sure how one has a hard-on against something (unless you're rubbing up against).
People who are attacking me over this (utterly anodyne) issue are piling in as a result of other threads, I feel.
Why attack people personally on a message board? I don't do it - it's so low-rent. I come on a board for an exchange of views. It's an intellectual exercise, but some people can't help but see it as a dog-pack. no wonder MBs tend to become male-centred the longer they continue.

You say this, but we don't believe you. As ani has pointed out you word your posts in such a way that people react and then you go on about how you mean nothing by it.
