On the other hand, Markle's point about their having characters for 10,000 etc (I knew they had words so it should've occurred) makes them indeed, more efficient - once you've got your head round the squiggles.
as a postscript to this thread:
seeing some sums on their whiteboard I asked my EP5 if they found Thai or Arabic numbers easier to use. They all said Thai were harder.
