i've been going to hua hin/cha am for long weekends for about the last 10 years, and i must say that i do like the area. hua hin was, as has already been stated, better about 10 years ago, but anyone i have ever taken there has always liked the place, and revisited. hua hin is a lot busier these days with the package holiday trade, alot of scaninavian people, alot of pizza restaurants. within the nightlife area, it is a very small town and people know your business quickly if you let them as everyone seems to know eachother within the bar life, and i've seen more trouble in the hilton than anywhere in bkk.
my mate had a basic condo with pool for 9,000, you could see the sea, only just.
its a great weekend in my opinion, not sure about living there, but it would make a nice change.
