when does the high season start to slow down or end. . i cant wait . .so sick of paying high prices and dealing with everything being overcrowded. .
ive heard april, but I have also heard it begins to slow in March?
Did the high season ever come?
rates come down May 1st. A few start after Songkran. Why I wait to take my holiday with the family in May. Most hotels come down 50% and a few offer a free day for a 3 night stay.
Trying to book rooms for Matthews wedding and getting pissed off with the prices in Prachuap. Trying to charge much more than Phuket.
Too long in Exile, too long not singing my song.
Too long like a rolling stone, Too long in exile
Too long in Exile, baby you just arent my friend.
Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
I was on Koh Lanta when the high season was supposed to start. I was warned my bungalow rent would soon double. I made other plans as that day was approaching. As the day arrived my landlord came aknockin. Seems I was good for another month at the lower off-season rate .. then another. The tourists never came. Well, some did but not enough to satisfy any of the loca'ls dreams or expectations. Now Koh Phi Phi is another story -- there is no low season.
It's difficult to figure what's happening to tourism in Thailand. It's a fallacious error to use your eyes as a guide. It's stupid to believe whatever the tourist media has to say. And unless you've been in a touristed area for some years, you'd have nothing to compare the present situation to.
High season lasts about 2 weeks around new years eve.
"high season prices" will last until after songkran at many establishments.
If you play the game though will get good prices. The days of a "high season" are over.
I remember asking one of my mates who runs a bar how his high season was. He said "yeah made some good money that week" lol.
It's a strange one... some days/nights around Silom would make you think that the whole industry is collapsing, then the next night the streets, pubs etc... will be packed.
Welcome to the inner workings of my mind...
ive been in samui, phangnan, Krabi and koh tao in the past few weeks and most of ther hotels and guesthouses are full .. it takes a bit of searching around to find one..
prices havent really affected me because im a cheap bastard and will walk aroiund for an hour until i find a 400 baht guest house. . its more the people.. when do the crowds generally slow?
If they are still strong now it wont be until after songkran as I said. It may come down a bit in May, but this is what it used to be like. Prices sure are high though.
I haven't seen a farang that I don't work with in about 2 weeks
Bangkok this weekend, the usual guesthouses near KSR better not be full.
overnight bus > taxi to KSR > sawasdee or greenhouse on rambuttri for a few hours kip 'till i meet the gf. Live happily ever after. Well that's the plan...
