Taking a wife back to the UK.....experiences please (particularly if they studied)

    Hi all,

I am currently mid way through my PGCE in the UK (lived in Thailand for 3 years). I have a gf back in Bkk. We are considering getting married in the summer and her coming here with me while I do my NQT year and perhaps her studying a TA qualification (that way we have same holidays etc in the future).

I would really like to know of people experiences returning with a wife and especially if she studied. Money is quite tight at the moment and having to pay international student rates for her to study in college (despite us being married) could be the deciding factor. One college quoted £1700+ for the course. Essentially what I am asking is what eligibility did your partner have to study etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Made the move back with the wife 6 years ago. The first year I believe you will be charged the same fees as an international student, but after being here for a year she will be charged as a local student, that's provided you are married of course.

My wife has been a TA for the last 3 years. I think he course cost a few hundred pounds at a local college.

Hope this helps, but the info may be a little out of date.
