Hi,
I am thinking about moving from Korea to Thailand next month.
Is 700 000bt is enough to start a new life in Thailand?
Oh, I would be continuing on as an English teacher.

Welcome to the forum cboinc. Are you considering other countries as well as Thailand?
I think 700,000 baht is enough to get settled.
Hi Guy,
Thanks for answering
No. Thailand is the only place I am considering.
I like the weather, food and they have adult ESL franchises.
700,000 is the price of a new pick up truck. It is half the price of a small house on the outer skirts of Bangkok.
It is plenty to cover the move and settling in.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.

Hi Stamp,
To answer your questions...
What about your qualifications?
I have a degree. I need to get a CELTA. Clean criminal record.
In what educational institute are you aiming to work?
8 years teaching adults. So, I would prefer to be working at adult institutes (Wall Street, AUA).
What salary are you expecting?
For the first year, I would expect 32 000 - 36 000bt + any extra jobs I could find.
Where in Thailand do you like to live?
Bangkok.
Peace.
^ Cheers.
You're good to go. I estimate your salary between 35,000 and 42,000 THB without private work.
Your 700,000 THB well be a great addition to settle down. i.e. necessities for your accommodation, motorcycle, bicycle and so on.
Best of luck.![]()
If you are young (under 30) and reasonably good-looking, you can be hired by 'Tall Street' for about 45K/baht or more. They will work you to death but if you fit their profile, you're in. If you're older, they won't hire you because they like to have eye candy for the Thai girls who sign up to study there.
