Long-term Visa as a journalist or a volunteer teacher?

As I contemplate my options, I wonder if it's possible to get a 1 or 2 year visa either as:

    1. A journalist
    2. A volunteer teacher

If so, can spouses get a stay for the same period on the basis of each visa?

Visas are valid for a maximum of 90 days. Extensions of temporary stay up to 1 year.

"2.15 In the case of a skilled laborer ora medical expert or a practitioner ofother professions for the purpose oftransferring knowledge to Thaipeople: The alien:
    (1) Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
    (2) Must have been confirmed and requested by a relevant organization or agency.

Each permission shall be grantedfor no more than 90 days. "

But go for religion, and you get a year. Ah, Thailand.

Thanks, Stamp! You really know this country's bureaucracy.

The paperwork actually isn't too bad, compared to some countries. Maybe a journo visa is the way to go.

Because I don't want to earn a fraction of my current wage doing difficult work with unenthusiastic students in non-a/c rooms for 8 hours a day.

So, you want a volunteer teacher's visa so you don't have to teach? You're an asset, aren't you?

On the global marketplace, yes, apparently more than you. I've also volunteer taught before, and I don't see what's so bad about doing it for 5-6 hours a week in exchange for a visa.

    Wife.

That's part of the reason why we haven't done this yet.

Might one ask, how do you propose to get a visa as a 'journalist'?You know you have to be properly accredited by the ministry - even freelance.

Also, you will not get a visa for volunteering 5-6 hours a week. It just isn't going to happen - unless you have some connected contacts.

That's my job in America; I don't think getting accredited in Thailand by whatever relevant ministry would be a problem, considering my resume.
