    Rules. The Absolute Basics.

Welcome to Ajarn Forum. By registering you are agreeing to the following basic principles in posting, and any violation of these rules may result in your posts being edited, deleting, and your username and any other identities you have signed up to being banned.

If you have not yet done so, please check your email for your activation key. You will not be able to find the new thread button without doing this first!

    1) No posting of real names or organisations in Thailand unless citing and republishing from another source. This is an absolutely fundamental rule, and repeated violation will see you banned. This applies to schools, teachers, admin staff, TEFL courses, and other businesses located in Thailand. Please remember that negative posts could result in named organisations filing a Thai police report against you. We also request that you do not reference law firms or or other legal services in Thailand in particular, which can be especially litigious.

    2) Please treat this forum, its moderators and its users with respect. A certain amount of horseplay is fine, but know where the limit is. Common sense should be your guide here. As a general rule of thumb, moderators generally start infracting and banning once you start to become high maintenance.

    3) Complaints - If you think that content in any post on Ajarn Forum doesn't comply with the rules written in this thread or in our Posting Guidelines, please report the post to the moderators of Ajarn Forum by clicking the triangular icon in the footer of each post. If you have weighty objections against the content of posts and or threads, please contact me directly by clicking the Contact Us link in the footer of each page. Please note, we are not responsible and do not deal with complaints about any content on domains other than Ajarnforum.net. Similarly the owners of other domains are not responsible for and do not deal with content on Ajarnforum.net

    4) Images posted on the forum should be Safe For Work. The benchmark in determining what is safe for work is based on whether a teacher in Thailand could safely browse the site in a Thai staffroom, with local colleagues and students looking over your shoulder. Posting pornography of any kind will get you banned immediately.

    5) Trolling, Inter-forum rivalries, and general Ajarn Forum hating will result in immediate bans. We are able to monitor for multiple identities, and while not strictly banned these are now frowned upon

    6) No negative posts about the Thai Royal Family, or Buddhism. This type of speech is illegal in Thailand, and can result in both the poster and forum management facing legal difficulties.

    7) Certain forums are freewheeling, certain forums are moderated more closely. Please check for any specific forum rules before posting.

    8) Advertising commercial products or services without prior contact with the forum administrator is strictly forbidden. Please contact the adminstrator for further details about advertising rates. "Shilling" or posing as an interested party to get a discussion going on products or services, is also banned and will result in that organisation's representitives being banned from posting, and blocked from appearing in Google Ads.

    9) More details about these and other rules can be found in the Rules and Announcements, and may be subject to change at any time. The owner of this site believes in Freedom of Speech, Human Rights for All and Democracy. However these concepts do not apply to privately owned forums. These are the rules obey them or leave.

Don't get me wrong - I don't want a 'serious' board but I'd like posts to be either genuinely amusing, informative and/ or thought provoking.
