Thanks to all. It's remuneration, by the way. I've had the same argument with lairy subs before.
The opening paragraph is meant to catch attention, although I can see why it's "dramatic". However, in my perhaps limited experience, weathered and jaded expats can be a handful sometimes. I've met "old hands" who've been really quite intimidating - especially "wheeler dealer" or know-it-all types... Also, there's the fact that I was writing this article knowing full well that it would be scrutinised by most people on this board and if I didn't get it at least nearly right, I would have been crucified.
On re-reading it, I wish I'd done more. For those that haven't met him, Phil really is a nice guy and there's more to Ajarn.com than I covered (or rather I glossed over some parts, like the articles). But I have my own word counts and blah blah blah and so on and so on.
Cheers to all. I'm off for a cold beer and a rest as it's a public holiday tomorrow.
