Regarding pay:... Well there's a variable rate depending on quals. I'm sure none of the Fili's are getting 40. Also the total pay I'll receive over 11 months is 390K, that's an average of 35.6 or so per month and even less if you consider that the month after the contract ends is a holiday month so no pay then either if you're going back to a school.
My first day was interesting... I left Big John's at 6.15 and caught a bus going directly to Nonthanburi, I arrived 3 hours later.
The school is relatively small with less than 40 in each class & there's already a Fili teacher there on a contract. It seems to be a very relaxed school & they are known to have a poor record with learning English. Hopefully I can rectify that a little.
Just b4 lunch 2 education dept people turned up so they the school took us all out for lunch. Great food & a bottle of whisky later... I reckon the school would of gotten a good assessment after all that booze.
They then sent me home about 2:45 & arranged an apartment for me. They also found me a much better route to get to the school so hopefully I'll make it on time, although I only have 2 nursery classes tomorrow & the v-principal is thinking of taking them off me, which I won't mind at all.
Too soon to know anything really but it looks ok so far as the staff I'll be working with are helpful & nice.
