    Learning Thai in Hatyai

I really need to learn some Thai but I cant find anything here in Hatyai!

Anyone know of a Thai language school in Hatyai?

Should I hire some guy off the street to teach me?

tafy...as a resident of Hat Yai, and a farang, as well, I have also looked for a Thai teachers. Several of us have attempted to find a school or teacher willing to take us under their wing...no dice. You can arrange for a 'teacher' at about 600 baht an hour (welcome to 'farang have money, I charge much'). It's more than you would pay for English lessons from a native speaker.

Find a good student, arrange some kind of reciprocal agreement - Thai lessons for English lessons.

    Good luck

There is a pretty fair book, Essential Thai, that you can get at the bookstore in Lee Gardens that comes with a tape (or maybe a CD, now) that is highly recommended. The author is James Higbee. It teaches you BKK Thai, but is a good basis for the Thai you will used locally.

Make Thai friends and spend time talking to them, tafy. They can help you with your Thai and you can help them with their English.

Watch a Thai soap with them and get them to explain to you what's going on (you'll be deeply moved).
Or would you like to swing on a star?
