Okay so here's one for you.

Why do some Thai men grow their fingernails? I am not talking about just a little longer some Thai men grow one of their fingernails really long. I have seen this done on the pinky finger a lot. Why is that? I have not asked them this as I did not want to offend them. I did ask one of my step-mum's family this before and they simply laughed so do share if you know.

So many Thai men come accross to me as very feminine.

It's a BS sign of status. Or want to be status. It means 'I don't have to do manual labour - how could I with a perfectly manacured 2 inch pinky nail.'

It obviously meant more decades and centuries ago when all there was was manual labour round these parts. But all over Asia is still shown as a sign of 'I don't have to get my hands dirty working'.

AKA 'I'm better than you, you field working peasant'. Which can be said without even having to open your mouth, just flash the pinky.

The longer and better it's maintained, the farther from manual labour and thus higher they are. At least in their petty little minds.

You're in the minority. Hell, I thought I was also. I have one Thai very good mate - who is my age - and we've been friends for 12 years. Ive got another very good Thai mate who is retired but again, mates for years. BUT they arent your average Thai chaps.
