That's at least 10 years old. Wonder who those incredibly creative gals in Shinjuku and Shibuya are copying these days. Here's from 1997: http://web-japan.org/kidsweb/cool/97-4-6/fashion.html

Re: Are Thai taught to be raciest people.
As someone else mentioned I think skin colour is a class thing rather than a race thing (Thai to Thai anyway). I don't think racism is always needed to be taught....I was never taught it....but have a little bit of it due to personal experience....but I think everyone is a twat unless they're me...and to be honest I think I'm a twat on occasion.

Re: Are Thai taught to be raciest people.
It goes back to the tribal identity, mentioned earlier. People naturally feel most comfortable with "their own", that is, people who speak the same language, eat the same kind of food, same basic attire, same or similar physical characteristics, systems of belief etc.
We absorb such attitudes from our culture, in the same way we absorb and learn our native language. Each culture has inherent racism. If we can be more rational and change ourselves, that is, make genuine efforts to minimize or escape racism, then we can begin to change the culture. Such change is being pursued and fostered increasingly, espcially after the mass slaughters of the 20th century.
Ideological racism, especially, continues to exist to be sure. But it's increasingly being viewed negatively.
Now, if Thais only knew that...

Re: Are Thai taught to be raciest people.
LOL. I think it's bad that tan is good now. I mean people now have to go into the sun, and that means skin cancer and faster aging. It's better if white is a good thing LOL.

I dont agree though it is not the most pernicious kind of racism. remember that racism is defined as discriminating between and treating races differently. Clearly, charging Farang between 4 and 10 times more for national attractions is just as racist as if Yellowstone Park were to charge blacks 3 times as much as whites.
The opportunism comment is valid, but it is racist opportunism.
Thais are just as racist in their own nation, Chinese Thais in particular look down at Thais from Issan and other places on the basis of their generally relative poverty and the colour of their skin. In general I have found the Issan Thais to be of a wholly ldifferent outlook and temperament, and with much more wholesome values imho.
All of this is consistent. Consistently racist whatever the particular form of racism observed by the OP.

In fact one of Brit insult words is "pikey". It can be very offensive to Brit people if they get called "pikey".

Exactly. It is an intrinsic part of the human condition for exactly the reasons I posted. Indeed, the whole concept of nations/nationalism/nationality/races is the genesis of racism. tribalism pure and simple.

Re: Are Thai taught to be raciest people.
There is intrinsic racism throughout Thai society at all levels.
It's a racist society like it or not.....and they are also quick to discriminate even if it isn't strictly on grounds of race.....factors.....how good-looking.....how white-skinned....accompanied by whoever.....attire.....age.....etc.
Newbies get real.......

Racism is ignorant, stupidity, no one have to except it but what can you do? I just walk away.

Re: Are Thai taught to be raciest people.
At least the Thai people won't have Mestizo gangs ruling parts of their country hacking people's hands off with machetes and creating fear among the natives. After traveling in over 20 countries, I've come to the conclusion that the races are different and meant to live separated. In their own nations. With their own people. With their own culture and customs.
The UK and the US are being ruined by multi-culutralism.
Whites have been brainwashed into thinking they have to accept other cultures into theirs and their culture is being diluted. How much longer before the white culture is extinct?

Me too. Import the curry, leave the race?
I love latin music. But not the Mestizos taking over my nation.
