Ramakien is Thai...written in Thai, eventhough the original story is from Ramayana...what's wrong with that?

The Thai VERSION of the Ramakien is very Thai, sure.

What's the point of calling it Indian anyway? At what point should they be aloud to call it Thai?

If someone raises their hand ans asks "this originally came from India, right?"

Do you think they'd say, NO, NO, it was written in Thailand by Thais. (?)

If was asked, where does it originated from, then of course India.

I don't know why the op gets this impression, I've never known a Thai person to claim that certain aspects of their culture were solely the work of Thais in Thailand. Very little has actually been invented or introduced by the Thais but what exists is a series of beautiful adaptations.

7-11, Dairy Queen, Swensen, Starbucks, Mister Donut. I'd never seen any of these before coming to Thailand. Thai culture? Definitely, part of it now anyway.

What twists my nipple is the insistence by some Thais that the culture is somehow sacred and continually in danger of being sullied by foreigners. Oh do shut the fuck up!!

Re: What is Thai Culture Exactly.

I saw a green one once in BKK. It was in a phone shop near a 7-11, and there was a sporting goods store across the street. I know this sounds stupid but does anyone know where that phone shop is?
