FINNSH MAN BRUTALLY BEATEN BY A MOTORBIKE TAXI IN PATTAYA
A Finn man, Mr.Voutilainen Juha Ensio, was brutally beaten and left on the road in front of a Family mart [convenient store].
At 03.00 am., on 16 November 2008, police lieutenant colonel rerngwit Rakchat, pattaya police inspector was informed that a man had been beaten and left on Pattaya Second Road. The police, Sawang Boriboon Rescue and a team from Pattaya Memorial Hospital rushed to the scene of the incident.
The incident took place in front of a Family mart , Soi 16/2 on the second road. police found Mr.Voutilainen Juha Ensio (48), a Finnish national, who was seriously injured and lying on his side, on the ground.
He had injuries on his face, his mouth and his nose were split and his face was covered with blood. Sawang Boriboon Rescue rushed the unconscious and badly beaten victim to the hospital.
Police questioned Ms. Nittaya Sahsook,(28) , from Burirum who was the asst. manager of the family Mart. Ms. Nittaya , the only witness of the incident said, she saw the victim who was in a heavy drunken state, arrived by a motorbike taxi and walked into the shop and walked out without purchasing any items. Ms. Nittaya said she saw the victim walked back to the motorbike driver but she did not see the attacking.
" I saw them discussing but I wasn't pay attention, just got back to work" She explained. " But when I looked out again, about 10 minutes later, I saw him was lying on the ground, and the taxi driver had already gone"
She then called the police to inform the incident.
Police also tried to find more information but the incident happened quite late and no one could confirm to be a witness.
Police presumed that Mr.Voutilainen Juha Ensio, the victim, who was drunk, may have had some sort of misunderstanding with the motorbike taxi rider. The police took a report of the incident and will interview Mr.Voutilainen Juha Ensio when his condition has improved and will bring the driver to the justice.

I wonder, do all these incidents in Pattaya only happen to foreigners who are drunk / hanging out at the bars? Or does this happen to ordinary folk who may just be out for dinner and walking through Pattaya to get to their hotel? (not being drunk...)
Maybe he mistook the family mart for a 7 - 11. " No cannot call police, this no 7 - 11, have to go 7-11"
All joking apart, I reckon he was levelled witha motorcycle helmet, I have seen this happen before, one swing and bang, instant broken nose, smashed in mouth.
I would not work in this country if you paid me.

I find this "som nam na" attitude a bit much. Since we dont know what the misunderstanding was about it seems unfair to judge this guy as an arsehole.

Finn refuses to pay and walks into to Family.
M/C takes off helmet.
Finn comes out of Family.
M/C batters Finn around face with helmet.
yes it is probable, but we dont know for sure. Maybe the Finn verbally abused the M/C, maybe the M/C demanded an unreasonable amount of money, maybe the Finn was one of those people whose face just seems to be crying out for a good smack. My point was that saying he got what he deserved is a little unfair considering we dont even know what he did.
