^ sure thing.
yeah, like he's going to admit he said 'fuck you' at this stage!
if I had a quid for every time someone has said similar things which i knew were untrue...
truth is, both parties may have recollected things differently, which is why a tape would be handy.
Sur votre bicyclette, mate.
For all you high and mighty folks, I'd like for you to consider exactly what three weeks in a Thai prison would be like. Then I'd like for you to consider what one would actually have to do in order to justifiably endure that experience.
Three weeks in a Thai prison people: Have you any idea what that would be like? Have you any idea what the majority of those men have done to get there? Would you want to be mingling with them just because you let fly some offensive words? Have you any idea how they would be looking upon the farang in their cell having heard what he had done to get there? How would you like to eat that rubbish (quite literally) that is served for food? Can you imagine how hot it is in those cells? Would you like to be lead around by guards who feel it is their duty to treat their prisoners like dogs? How many cockroaches do you think passed by these mens' heads as they try to sleep on the concrete floor? Can you imagine pulling around heavy iron chains rubbing against your ankles as they transport you from one cell to the next?
I've got no sympathy for the guys who've gotten to that place by commintting violent acts of crime. But this man's only offence was that he made a bad decistion and made rude comments to people. ANYWHERE ELSE and the man would have been set aside in a cell until his passport was sorted. He might have received a small fine and even the dreaded red stamp in the passport. But he most certainly wouldn't have been thrown into a prison (not a holding cell mind you) for three fucking weeks left to endure all that Phuket Town prison has to offer.
Honestly, think about what he did and what he's received in return and you try to tell me the guy got what he deserved. I highly doubt you'd be so critical if it happened to someone you know.
I'm no bleeding heart liberal. Criminals are scum and should be made to endure punishment befitting of their crimes in such a way that they get back into society and never commit crime again. But this guy already spent three weeks in a cell and now faces two more years of it. Even the though of spending another couple of months in a Thai prisons would have us pissing ourselves. Yet some here think all of what happened is okay.
Why? Because TiT.I'm sorry but that is the faultiest lense through which to analyse this case.
Yis lar,,,,,,been ther,,,,,,,dun that

don't think it's being high and mighty, like the example in California where a guy was arrested for saying "fucking cops", it's just common sense which would usually make somebody refrain from saying that, knowing that there could be repercussions, in this case, arrested and put in a Thai jail till he raised the bail money.

Sweet. Then by that bit of analysis, it's okay to go down into Pattsville, find me a twelve-year-old girl to fuck after her father has sold her into his buddy's kiddy brothel. Why not? TiT. That's what's done here. Yeah it's illegal but everyone knows it's done.
Perhaps the generals in Siera Lione could use that defence at he ICC. "Hey judge, I'm innocent. That's what we do here. The children love us. We give them food and guns and they fight for us. We're all freedom fighters. It's what we do here. TiSL.
Gimme a fooking break. Just because this shit happened in Thailand doesn't make it right.
Here's some analysis from Phuket Wan:
The Penalty: Mr Burrowes has been held in an overcrowded jail for three weeks, and forced to surrender his contentious passport while awaiting a court hearing. We hope that the time he has spent in jail and the additional expense involved in his enforced stay are taken into account. In many countries, prison accommodation before a court hearing is relatively comfortable. Remand centres, or similar facilities, reinforce the principle that a person is innocent until proven guilty. With a guilty verdict, the person is usually moved to a proper jail. In many cases, people who commit non-violent crimes are imprisoned in facilities that keep them separated from killers, rapists and other social misfits. Even if Mr Burrowes is found guilty, he has surely served his penalty.

When all is said and done, that's the bottom line. But this man's only offence was that he made a bad decistion and made rude comments to people. ANYWHERE ELSE and the man would have been set aside in a cell until his passport was sorted. He might have received a small fine and even the dreaded red stamp in the passport.
As I said before, amateur, unprofessional and third world mentality.

Every country is entitled to create it's own laws, but that doesn't mean those laws are just or fair. Speaking of Iran, I was talking with an Iranian friend over the weekend, and we were talking about ridiculous laws. They told me that in Iran women are not allowed to ride bicycles. Could you imagine being thrown in prison for riding a bicycle? Hardly would seem a fair punishment for the "crime".
Two years in prison and a 2,000 pound fine for cursing is inhumane. Sure maybe the guy is a rude asshole, so send his ass on the plane and blacklist him. Problem solved. I don't get it, just because this guy has a less than desirable personality he deserves what ever inhumane punishment this country can cook up? The guy was a jerk anyway...... Please don't tell me that anyone on this forum is so calm, cool, and collected whereas to be immune to an angry outburst. Never once in you life have you had a slip of the tongue, later to think...."I really wish I hadn't said that". It's happened to me on more than one occasion in my life, humans are emotional creatures, no way around that. Cut the guy a fucking break, the emotional damage he has probably suffered up to this point warrants him to do a lot more than tell that immigration official to "fuck off".
Never had such a slip o the tongue at ANY immo Cappy
