ONE week ago Gold Coast model Lana O'Connell was setting off on a whirlwind holiday to Thailand.
Today friends and family are struggling to come to terms with the tragic accident that left her dead, The Gold Coast Bulletin reports
The 23-year-old's life was cut short when the motorcycle she and boyfriend Ken Trivett were riding clipped a motorcycle and sidecar stall on Patak Rd, Phuket, in the early-morning darkness on Saturday.
The pair then veered across the road, colliding with another motorcycle in oncoming traffic.
Both were taken to hospital, where Ms O'Connell was pronounced dead hours later.
Thai authorities believe alcohol could have been a contributing factor and say Lana was not wearing a safety helmet.

that hill can be nasty...even nastier if you're drunk and not wearing a helmet. guess the side car was on the side of the road and no doubt didn't have its lights on.
i'm sure some western do-gooders are wringing their hands and calling for more motorbike helmet enforcement. i can't stand those people.

true, but it drives me nuts when they chime in with their western caretaker approach to governance. let the insurance companies include a clause to only insure drivers who take established precautions and leave big brother out of it. i'm an adult and like being treated like one.
