Beavis, you probably are right there about tolerance. I just didn't grow up around men dressed as women or even gays. Gays don't bother me though. Younger generations will be different towards these people. And someday maybe the airlines will be tolerant too and they will hire many more air hosts than they do now and they will hire short, fat, ugly ones too after all that would be real freedom. They should toss the dresses and makeup and have them dress like Walmart greeters. Of course this will only happen in a more tolerant world. Really.
As it is now, TS/TVs are attracted to the position of air hostess only because it is a job for glamourous 'women' Is that not the truth? Okay in Thailand it can be a bit better for opportunities but its more than opportunity. You can't be serious if you don't see that. No doubt TS/TVs can do the job as well as anyone. That's a fact. But this job is about looks in Asia much more than in the Western world. The western world is mostly beyond the old-fashioned beautiful air hostess idea. Asia has no laws about discrimination which is why employers do discriminate in hiring only the best looking girls and keeping them as air hostesses. Lots of issues to look at in this story. It represents very little 'equality' in the end. Equality for the very few. Same old story.
