A labrador mauled a couple’s nine-day-old baby son to death before the dog was itself killed, reportedly by the boy’s grief-stricken father.
The tragedy happened at the family’s home on Soi Sakaengam in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian District on Wednesday evening.
The couple, Nuchara and Thana Wichianpheuphon, had gone out when the attack took place. They had left Thana’s mother to look after their newborn son Phumjai, according to Kom Chad Luek.
Nuchara, 35, said the couple used the black labrador known as “Shogun” as a guard dog.
When the attack took place, Shogun was out in front of the house, while Phumjai was sleeping in a cradle on the ground floor.
Phumjai’s grandmother was cooking when she heard Phumjai screaming.
By the time she got to the scene, it was already too late. Shogun had run into the house, jumped onto a sofa and leaned into the cot, biting the baby boy all over his head and face.
The panicking grandmother phoned the couple to tell them the terrible news. Neighbors rushed Phumjai to Nakhon Thon Hospital in Thonburi. Doctors fought to save the baby’s life but he succumbed to his injuries and died in the early hours of August 1.
When Thana got home, he attacked Shogun and beat the labrador to death.
4 more years!
Fuck. Terrible thing.
Who, in their right mind, keeps a guard dog anywhere NEAR their 9-day old infant?
Fucking pit bull defenders here in the states put those horrible dogs around infants all the time. To prove a point. Idiots.
1. if you leave your just born baby on his own with the old grandmother and something happens it's your fault you can't blame anybody else
2. i'm surprised the dog is a labrador , they are known to be among the nicest dog around
3. from 2, if u use a labrador as a guard dog it means the dog must be pretty fucked up and aggressive , maybe the owner the so-called Thana was the one who made the dog crazy
big dog living in a small thai style house. No good.

Agreed on both points.
The fact that the father attacked and killed the dog probably indicates something. Sure, people can say, "look at the circumstances", but I think there is more too it. Thais, in general, don't treat animals well; especially in Isaan where I lived.
My brother in law also, by coincidence, had a black lab. One day he beat the dog and tried to kill him because the dog annoyed him. He slashed at it with a scythe as well, then left the dog for dead.
After a VERY longish period where the dog lay in a seemingly dead state..it rose and lived. But it must have been brain-damaged or something because it walks a bit sideways from there on in. It was also well and truly dull at that point, which "made" the brother beat the dog more...
After seeing him hit the dog a few times HARD with a heavy stick or block of wood I told my wife to tell him next time I see him hit the dog like that I'm going to take the stick/block of wood and he will get it.
Sad story in any case...

Yeah it's true that Thais are not the nicest towards animals especially i don't why because they are supposed to be buddhist and all that shit, but it really makes my blood boils when i see someone hitting animals for no reasons
