I am thinking of teaching English to working professionals but I don't know how to get hold of clients. I am based here in the province, the NOrth. Is is worth to advertise in a local paper in Thai or submit proposals to companies? IM DREAMING...hahahhahahha
I also want to be able to get hold of materials to teach them about business English e.g. business letters and the works....Is there a book on this?
I also assume they are absolutely BEGINNERS so what do I do? Should I buy certain books for adults who are beginners?
And I if it will be like a group - say 3 or 5 people HOW much is the charge per hour?
Wow you are lucky to have a forum like this to ask all those questions.![]()
Too long in Exile, too long not singing my song.
Too long like a rolling stone, Too long in exile
Too long in Exile, baby you just arent my friend.
Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
In all honesty I'd leave this field to people who know what they're doing. There are so many companies all over the place offering corporate classes, I doubt there is much chance for an uninformed individual with no idea about the industry!
Sorry to be blunt
On the other hand, you could always find a company to give you a job - they usually need teachers and supply books too![]()
I am completely bamboozled by this statement:I am thinking of teaching English to working professionals...... I also assume they are absolutely BEGINNERS......
Excuse me for not taking this seriously .....

C'mon guys... give ol'Brian a rest. I want to start my own country and be president of it... can someone point me in the direction for the place, people and economy?
If that fails though... I was thinking of starting my own porn site. Does anybody here know how to scan stuff out of Playboy magazines?

I'm in the Northeast and the demand for generic Business English is extremely low.
When it does appear, it's usually specific, i.e. for bank staff.
If you get a PT job at a private language centre you might get a chance to teach BE if/when it comes around.
Useless trivia: I worked in Phnom Penh for 2 years and there was always quite a lot of BE work to be had.

Are there such things a local papers in Thailand? The Thais out in the provinces always seem to read the big, Bangkok based, national papers like Thai Rath or Matichon... I asked my wife about this and she said that most rural Thai's rely on TV and gossip for their news and that there just isn't an advertising base to support small, local Thai language newpapers.

And I thought that it was just a car!
Thai Rath claims that 30,000,000 million Thais a day at least see their headlines. A bit boasful if you ask me. But their vans set out all night full of papers for the provinces. As big upcountry as in BKK is Thai Rath. It is the popular paper of the Thais, while Matichon is known as the quality paper.
By read I guess they mean 4 or 5 papers shared in a village of a thousand or so. You eventually find out what happened in the paper.
I want to start my own country and be president of it... can someone point me in the direction for the place, people and economy?(Best to assume the population will be beginners... )
Or would you like to swing on a star?
