When I use a whiteboard erasable marker for labelling a book or poster, it's permanent.

It's only temporary for white board (in my experiences).

He gets right up my nose too.

He has published quite a few books and CDs for Thai's to learn English.

One I browsed through had more Thai in it than it did English!

peelieorion; a colleague of mine has put your teaching system to good work on his P5 and P6 kids.

Re: Teaching Bloopers!

There was a time when I was teaching an Aboriginal special needs class we were doing a project in the library.
At the start of the lesson I was introducing what we had to do when a loud fart slipped out.....Well everyone burst into laughter even the Liberian in the next room that had heard it. The laughter would subside and some one would start up again ..Eventually people were on the ground clutching their sides in too much pain to laugh. We got no work done that afternoon ...I guess some of those student would remember that for life

I started the afternoon silent reading session by claiming the bean bag...wrong move...teacher reading away, slowly slips into an afternoon snooze...wakes up 20 minutes later with the girls leading the boys around on hand made paper leashes pretending to be dogs...Thanks God the principal didn't walk in...

Various reasons. I use it here and there. I think that day I was labelling different sections in a folder, on the transparent sheets.

Give the guy a break. Seemed quite able when I taught at his place.

Not on transparent sheets mate.

During a CELTA TP, I drew a quick "puppy" on the board. My peer observers spent the rest of the session trying to hold back the laughing tears, while the sketch stayed up on the board till the end. After the students filed out, they asked me about my boardwork.

I looked and there it was: a huge cock and balls.

I tried to think back to my students...still not sure if any of them did/would make the association.

Re: Teaching Bloopers!

my biggest blooper was last year (possibly kings b/day) when we had a load of VIP's visiting the school... all the teachers were dressed up in their best dress uniforms, but nobody had told me (what's new) and i turned up dressed as casual as you like (as you can see below)... felt highly embarrassed all day meeting all sorts of local dignitaries dressed like a tramp..

I just love those uniforms... I actually thought that the first Thai school I taught at was staffed by Thai Navy Officers!

I have done that more than once or three times...most teachers I know have...how do I know? The first time I did it I was a trainee teacher and when the kids stopped laughing they told me how to wipe it off.

and your holiness...teachers have permanent markers in the classroom for OHPs and many other things, especially science experiments so it is easy to do...does that make sense?

also how many of you will admit to have let a fart slip in class?

For sure they don't enhance your written accuracy.

GeeCee, thank god they didn't start an orgy like they did in that school in Melbourne!

Re: Teaching Bloopers!

A lady peeked in my classroom today with a camera. I was trying to re-focus my students, and saying "You wouldn't want her to take a picture of something like this, would you?" as I comically mimed overbearingly pointing and screaming at a naughty student.

*snap*

Seems she got just the shot she was looking for.

Ss had a good giggle.

Re: Teaching Bloopers!

Almost a case of lesse majeste today. One of the students kept saying "the king" during a brainstorming session but because of his strange accent I thought he said f******. In the end I decided to not hear him. It was a demo lesson for the director (my first day) so glad I said nothing!

That was shortly before I "dead legged" myself on the projector. The whole class - director included burst out laughing. All in all actually a really good way to break the ice with new students!
