Blue Water International school in Ko Samui

These guys are interviewing in London this January, does anyone know how they would react if I just pitched up and asked to speak to the Head this December.

I am in my first year after my PGCE in the UK, am already eager to leave shite UK, I am in Ko Samui this December on holiday.

    Cheers

I don't know anything about said school. But i would be surprised if any school would react too well to a holidaymaker who 'pitched up'.

I would suggest the alternative would be to write a letter, explain you hope to apply for a position in January and ask if it would be possible to arrange a visit to the school at the end of term.

I wouldn't turn up in your holiday gear either. I think they are quite a new school? but i'm sure they have standards.

Been going a few years I think - can't imagine what its like.

For sure it would be better if you wrote to them in advance rather than just rocking up, op.

That shows your visit isn't just a spur of the moment.

I disagree, make the effort to meet with them when you are in the UK, do a bit of research about them and give it a shot. You have nothing to lose, and who says you have to do things the 'conventional' way.

If the 'convention' is to read the op with a degree of attention then I'd say there is much to be said for it.

    The op is asking if.....

....oh hey, just try again eh?

Thanks for your replies. I may drop them an email to say that I am on Samui holidaying, explain my background and see if they would be interested in seeing me. I have been coming to Thailand for a good number of years, having first been attracted by the Muay Thai scene.

I am in my late thirties, having been involved in publishing, web design and journalism relating to Muay Thai specifically. I also speak Thai fluently.

    Cheers

I've heard that the Head is a bit of an arrogant tit and I can't see them paying that much

^ This could be an issue, though, especially if the OP appears as a 'local hire'.

Looking at the school's website it does say: "Please click on this link to view any vacanicies at ISS. If their [sic] are no current vacancies [Note: none are currently listed] do still feel free to email a covering letter and CV to the Headmaster in order to be considered for a position in the future." Give this a try, SiLeak. Oh, and it appears that they have now renamed themselves 'The International School of Samui' and are no longer Bluewater.

Sounds like samui would suit you down to the ground.

Just remember to keep the tatts covered at work.
