Too much in my opinion. I get embarrassed when my 5k Baht/Month "works her arse off" assistant hands me my payslip each month.

    Unlike your good self.

... but really ... 43k for 15 contact hours a week. I start late ... finish early. Admittedly, I have years of saved lessons and resources on hand and am almost anally organised.

Still disgusting ... but hey! I'm not complaining. I can handle the slight embarrassment each month.

Phil, given the unrealistic situation of teaching and testing 1,000 students 4x a year, I like this method for the simple fact that it will free up more instruction time for you to reach out to your brighter students. Also, it's important to observe other teacher's methods (as ridiculous as this testing method is) for coping with your teaching reality and use them if they satisfy the bureaucracy.

Yep. Every school director has an agenda. Once you figure out that agenda, you can get away with murder once you satisfy the director. The director's agenda may be 1) arriving to sign-in on time every day, 2) making students happy with games/activities, 3) wai-ing and smiling at Thai staff, 4) playing football with Thai staff every week, etc. Many farang bring their own agenda to school, and that's a problem when the farang HOD decides to become a mini-director of sorts at the school.

Yes, that's the part that I queried. TBF I should have written "Less corruption there?" Seriously what form does this alledged corruption take. Is the used buffalo black market out of control? Payments of traffic cops more than a sack of rice?

What's that, 850 quid? Add another 50% to your monthly pay and you'll just about hit the minimum monthly wage in the UK. Congratulations, you're obviously living in Thailand for the lifestyle.

Wouldn't live there on anything less than 100+K a month.
