No.1 is water because it's liquid - the others are solids. But that's just a wild guess and assuming it's a hard-boiled egg.

Number 3 is grape - it doesn't end with an 'a'

These are the same reasons that I came up with, but that's because we already knew the correct answer.
One could have easily chosen:

2. onion, because it grows underground
3. tuna, because it's an animal
And they would have been wrong?
