Well, Tony, this particular thread or topic doesn't draw much conversation. Wangsuda was kind enough to post it, so it's "stuck" there as a stickie, for future reference.
However, topics that are stuck but open for comment can have new posts. It's great to see that this thread has revived, although there have been no substantial comments. I'll try an amateur attempt now.
I made no comments this thread before, but on previous occasions when Wangsuda referred to the MoE standards or strands, I thought they were not very relevant to the kind of English and Math classes I had in a remote northern province which was both remote and provincial. To me as a non-professional educator, I wrongly assumed that it was jargon, or poorly translated Thai educamashunal jargon. I see now that I'm wrong. At school in the staffroom, however, I had seen schtufff that met the description in the prior sentence.
I don't have enough trust in the MoE or in its regional and local applications of educational schtuff, to believe that these strands are actually applied in real practice, as intended. I'll bet you that department heads and experienced teachers only refer to them when the boss requires it, and then it's only a token exercise. I doubt that these strands really go into the lesson plan (although they could, if one wanted to prove a point). I'm not even sure that semester or end-of-matayom national test scores would markedly improve if many teachers diligently held to the strands.
Of course, I'm usually wrong on this professional stuff.
Yeah, it's kind of a chat thingie, Tony. I just woke up late, and had nothing better or nastier to do.

Re: MoE Strands
Anyone have the MoE standards/outcomes for M1-M3 Computer Studies?
I'm experiencing the same frustration as previous posters trying to get them out of my EP director, who wants me to do my own curriculum.
And I don't want to wind up like the IT teacher in the Pub's "Build Our Own..." thread.

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
So anyway, Defender was talking about posting the more complete Thai National curriculum on a thread here yesterday. He was having to check it out with Louis first.
So now I can't find the thread where that was posted.
Anyway...just interested to know if anything is coming of this. Sounds like it would have been a great little resource to have stickied here.
Defender? Louis?

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
Still can't post attachments mate sorry Two PMs to admin and a thread in troubleshooting later and not even a sniff of a response from our beloved admin .... not strictly true, he did reply to my first PM telling me how to join up for posting attachments - just that it didn't work

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
Thanks Defender.
Louis, any way you can get this happening ? I know you're busy and all, like the rest of us. But I think there are a few folks out there who would love to have these available.
If it's not happening, would be good to know that as well.
Ta.

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
I have this version of the Basic Education Curriculum. Dimensions 165 x 250 mm. It has 144 pages. I scanned the front page. It has a telephone number on it. Ask your administration to order it.
Good luck.

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
Not one reference in the strands of applying English in writing. one of the key failures of their curriculum for me is the lack of writing taught and applied. Life skills like writing letters, reading for meaning, applying for jobs abroad, C.V's etc. Plus of course they don't teach phonics. So Thais will continue to learn conversations without being tested on it and grammar rules which they can't apply to longer pieces of writing. Nonense, nonense and nonense

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
^
What Defender was talking about was something that goes beyond these "strands' Peel.
Which Is why it would be nice to see them posted.
It sounds like it's up to Louis now. So at some point hopefully we can see something with a bit more "meat on the bone".
Thanks Stamp. Might be like pulling teeth here trying to get that book ordered in.

Re: MoE English Strands and Outcomes
I have PDF versions (very nicely laid out) of the maths and science curricula from the book stamp posted above, the Basic Ed. Curriculum.
There is also a zip file containing word documents for all subjects except science, again exactly the same content as the book above, which bet unearthed somewhere on the web!
I will gladly share all as and when I get attachment post privileges in the resource pool!
cheers

Yes, I'm curious as to why this hasn't happened yet.
Surely it can't be that complicated for admin to figure something out.....
or in the words of discuss...It can't be that bloody difficult

I don't think Louis has been around here much the last day or two to be honest, he probably has a life away from the forum ..... unlike the rest of us!
