It's been "suggested" by the powers above (the idiots that run this uni, not God) that we should pass all of our students, no matter how poor they perform on the final exam. Is this common in Thailand? Are any teachers out there allowed the luxury of failing their students? Here's a memo we got today:
So if I fail a student, I have to be the one to do more work? Most teachers are just going to pass their students so they don't have to spend 2 weeks writing a workbook for students who have no hope of passing anyway. I'm not complaining or anything, but this just seems ridiculous. Please be informed regarding the final exam. If any students in your classes fail the courses you teach, they must resit. However, if they fail in the first resit, you must give them workbooks or worksheets to study and do during the holidays preparing for the second resit which will take place around the last week of May.
Please make all the first resit test and workbooks or worksheets ready for students by the morning of March 13, the last day that students will be at school.
Thank you for your cooperation.
