Get the new album? Everyone was raving about it. I listened to it once and was a bit under-whelmed. Maybe it's a grower.

Awesome band. I got into Angels Of Light last year. Gira's folk band. Great stuff although very different from Swans.

You wouldn't be alone in that thought. I know some longtime Earth fans are somewhat disappointed with it. Personally, I really like it. It's a departure, for sure, but to listen to a couple of my mates blathering on about it, you'd have thought they'd got Mark Ronson to produce it and invited remixes by Timberland. Blimey, it's just a bit more bluesy and structured.

Yeah, I like his folky stuff, and some of his protege, Devendra Banhardt. Gira's been doing that kind of thing since the late 80s, which made an extreme contrast with the ear bleeding rage of Swans.

Heyyyy .. it's not fair :D i don't like metal..at all ... but I don't qualify for any of your poll options. I used to like metal and hard metal songs while in highshool (the wild years I guess), but I'm long time pass that period now Change the poll , it's not funny :D

I'm going to have to side with Sarah here. I've been deprived of decent music for too long but now that we're in the wonderful world of torrents there is no excuse. The problem is, I've never heard of most of these bands that have been mentioned. In the old(ish) days it was easy, there was a progression. You like Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne, fine, check out Sepultura, while you're at it Cradle of Filth are pretty good too, now Max has left Sepultura so try his new band Soulfly, etc, etc.... How do you hear of these contemporary doom / death / thrash metal bands? Is there a decent radio or tv channel that can be listened to / watched through the internet?
