steely dan. especially doctor wu, any major dude will tell you, and the whole of aja.
beach boys - SmILE sessions bootleg, its very odd in parts but quite quite beautiful with it. didnt really dig the 'final' version released in 2004, which was a bit tepid.
just bought a sensational alex harvey band compilation - on the strength of hearing a couple of his songs, and always having heard good things about him. the album sounds pretty good first off - i think he was a bit bonkers though. reminds me alot of a scottish ian dury , there's such similarities that i bet i'm probably like the millionth person to make it.
i'm also getting into alot of motown stuff again that i hadnt listened to for years. diana ross & the supremes never used to be my favourites but i appreciate their stuff alot more now than say, stevie wonder. 'where did our love go?' is sublime. that bassline!

ps - and from reading your posts you'd probably be horrified by this, but jeff 'skunk' baxter, who played guitar on early steely dan records and then left for the doobie brothers, is now a special advisor on missile defense to the bush administration! strange career.... :smile:
