Saw 'tallica in October 1988 at a very tender age. Danzig was supporting. That gig makred a beginning for me. Not only did they rock and thrash their way to metal nirvana that evening, it also marked a point-of-no-return on my personal journey into the world of MeTaL forever more for me. While some mightn't like their stuff, it can't be denied that their influence was absolutely huge, and still is for that matter. "Whiplash!!!"

Twas an awfully unfortunate accident that took his life. His bass solo '(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth' is still one of my favourite Metallica tracks.

Jason Newstead was also a wicked bass player and it's just a shame that he had such big boots to fill and that (allegedly) he was never really accepted by his band members for this reason.

The new album's the best thing they've done since Black or maybe AJFA. Give it a try. It's definitely not a return to true form but it's probably the best they could do at this stage.
